Chris Barber is an expert in complex pain, based in Chislehurst, South East London. Originally from Belfast in Northern Ireland, Chris completed his training in London, relocated to the area over 30 years ago, and has practiced physiotherapy for 28 years both in the NHS and in private practice.
Outside of his work as a physiotherapist, Chris enjoys an active lifestyle, spending quality time with his 14-year-old twin boys. Whether it’s hitting the greens for a round of golf or exploring the area while cycling, Chris finds joy in outdoor activities.
His academic journey began at Kings College London, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours, and graduated in 1996. From there, he pursued additional certifications in dry needling/Gunn-IMS acupuncture and AposHealth, learning from leading experts in physiotherapy, pain science, and sports medicine.
Chris quickly became the ‘go-to’ physiotherapist for complex aches and pains, spinal problems, and sports injuries. His areas of special interest include running injuries, chronic spinal and nerve pain, and knee arthritis. He’s extremely passionate about aiding patients of all ages and abilities overcome problems they have previously been told to just live with, and helping them avoid drugs and surgery wherever possible.
Chris established Advanced Physiotherapy in 2005 with the aim of addressing the needs of patients struggling with persistent pain and fear, often exacerbated by a lack of attentive listening, thorough examination, effective hands-on treatment, or adequate rehabilitation efforts from their healthcare providers. Chris has been able to help his patients move, feel, and perform better where treatment had failed elsewhere.
